My name is Asia (she/her), and I’m a writer & performer based out of Kansas City. I write primarily from experience, and my work focuses on the concepts of mental health, love and heartbreak, and telling stories about the different parts of my personhood. I am constantly on a journey of self-discovery, and this is reflected in my poetry.
My work has been featured on Write About Now’s YouTube page, Button Poetry’s YouTube channel and “Best of Button” playlist, and has been published by multiple online journals and magazines.
I was a semi-finalist in the 2018 Texas Grand Slam poetry slam, and competed with the Kansas City Poetry Slam teams in the 2018 National Poetry Slam and 2019 Rustbelt Poetry Festival. I am a four-time champion of the Kansas City Poetry Slam as well as a regular host at Poetic Underground KC, and most recently I competed in the 2020 Women of the World Poetry Slam.
